During any grief support group use a combination of 3 or 4 of the following ideas:
- Open the app and collectively read the quote of the day for reflection, discussion, or both.
- Collectively start the Grief Wave to teach and support participants in using the tool when they are away from the group and reinforce the need to feel their grief fully. An intentional way to begin or end a support group.
- Set aside time during each group to teach and practice Give Me a Break activities which are meant to reset the mind and body.
- Encourage participants to open the Memory Book and share pictures and stories related to their loss with the group.
- Create a time in your group when participants open the Good Moments album and share some of the good moments they have experienced between sessions with the group. This can be a positive way to end the session.
- Assign specific workbooks sections to the group to be completed and shared at the following support group meeting. This creates a concrete grief education component within the support group meeting.
- An alternate workbook focused activity would be to have everyone complete at least three exercises of their choice between sessions. Then ask them to discuss which, if any, really resonated with them and their own grief journey.
- Allow people to replay entries from their Audio Journal to the group if they are comfortable to do so as a way of learning to express their heavy emotions.
