Here’s something I didn’t expect. After my husband’s death, I lost all access to credit.
His name was the first name on all of the credit cards. Even though we applied for them with our joint income, they just automatically put the husband first unless you request otherwise.


And I’m going to tell you right now. Request otherwise. Flip flop them back and forth so that every other person is the head person on a credit card.


Because when your person dies, they cancel the card. And you have to reapply for credit from scratch.


Depending on your situation, especially if you were a long-term caregiver, or had to change careers, you might not be able to get credit again.
